The Right Amount of Information?

Jesper Strömbäck has recently co-authored a paper on media and news habits in the
The International Journal of Press/Politics
.

Based on a large European study, the authors identify five news consumer profiles based on how people consume news, and argue that “both traditional and online-based news diets are correlated with higher political knowledge”.

NiemanLab has published a nice summary and discussion of the paper, discussing particularly the interesting claim that “Hyper news consumers” do not seem more informed about politics than the average news consumer.
